The project I would like to work on is building a hydroponic system with a central reservoir. I believe that everyone should have a connection to nature no matter where they live. Hydroponics is an exciting new area of cultivation that reduces harvest time and increases yields. Hydroponics would enable an apartment dweller to produce an interesting array of greenery.

While the promise of hydroponics is large, it can become cumbersome and labor intensive. One must constantly monitor the PH level, PPM, and mixture of nutrients. Every week a cleaning is recommended. As someone who grew up being very inspired by Steve Jobs and Johnny Ive, I find the exciting challenge to be reforming something with great promise to be simple and seamless. When I look at how cumbersome hydroponics are, I know there has to be a way to streamline the process. One thought would be to make system with a centralized reservoir that can be maintained and monitored while the solution is pumped outwards.

Potentially, this project could take on the form of a 3D printed lamp-like structure where water is pumped upwards and into other compartments with a light at the top that casts downwards over the plants.

In making progress on this project, my plan is to provide weekly updates on the phases of my project.

(essentially the idea is a structure like the former with a lamp at the top such as the latter)
